2020, A Life Full of Changes & Baby Must Haves

As the title suggests a lot has changed for our family already this year. In December we welcomed our first child, a baby girl, who we named Giuliana, she is the sweetest thing and it has been an amazing 10 weeks so far with her! Taking care of a newborn has been challenging but without a doubt the best experience of my life. I have made about a million google searches everything from best bottles to what should baby poop look like, I don't know how our parents did it without the internet! And without Amazon, I have made no less than 30 orders since shes been born, so thankful for prime.
Today I wanted to shift gears a little bit and talk about our most loved and must have baby gear.
Our number one item that we have used everyday is the Boppy Newborn Lounger. We use this thing everywhere, on the couch at night, on the kitchen table during the day and we throw it in the car when we go visit grandparents.Of course we will be more limited where we can use this once she is able to rollover but for newborns its awesome!

Second item is burp cloths, I now know you can never have too many of these, you will want them in every room all the time and they get dirty quickly so its good to have a ton so you're not doing laundry everyday. My favorite are these and these.

Hudson Baby Boy and Girl Flannel Burp Cloths, 4-Pack - Bees
Its amazing how much stuff such a little person needs and how quickly they will outgrow all this baby gear too! Giuliana is still sleeping in our room in a pack and play with a bassinet attachment and a thicker mattress I found on Amazon. Then we have another bassinet downstairs for naps, which is necessary with our two curious dogs.

If you are in the process of registering for baby gifts make sure you register for a few swaddles in different sizes and also wearable blankets, I completely forgot and I had to order a fleece one the day she came home because I didn't trust my blanket swaddling skills. We used halo fleece swaddles and just recently transitioned her into wearable blankets, although I haven't found one that I really love yet.

Besides these things there are the basics that babies will need throughout babyhood, lots of comfy one piece PJs, we have mostly Carters and I still haven't decided if i prefer zippers or snaps yet. For bottles I recommend buying a few different brand and see which one you and your baby gravitate towards. Then of course stock up on onesies, diapers, wipes and whatever soaps and diaper ointment you will be using.

The last thing I want to mention is to ask your OB for an order for a breast pump, even if you're planning on breastfeeding as I was sometimes that doesn't work out right away. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have my pump in the beginning because we didn't figure out nursing until she was almost 4 weeks old! I have the Spectra S2 and have been very happy with it.

Thats it for now, I'm sure in the next 10 weeks her needs will shift drastically but these are the items that got us through the first 10 weeks are first time parents, to anyone else that is expecting or welcoming home a new baby, Good Luck!
